TPU parts: flexible and rubber-like, made to order

TPU is our flexible material. Parts bend, grip, seal, and absorb impact instead of cracking, and they shrug off wear that destroys rigid plastics. We 3D print TPU parts to order in London, Ontario and ship across Canada.

Flexes instead of breaking

TPU bends and springs back. Parts survive drops, vibration, and repeated flexing that would crack rigid materials.

Grips, seals, and cushions

High surface friction and elasticity suit gaskets, feet, pads, and anything that needs to hold position or absorb shock.

Firm flexible (Shore 68D)

The TPU we stock is on the firmer end of flexible: it holds its shape under load while staying rubbery, comparable to a stiff shoe sole.

Applications

What TPU is used for

Typical jobs we print in TPU. If your part is similar to any of these, TPU is likely the right choice.

Gaskets and seals

Custom gaskets, washers, and seals for housings and covers. Not offered for fuel systems or pressurized lines.

Bumpers, feet, and pads

Equipment feet, corner protectors, vibration dampers, and wear pads.

Grips and covers

Tool grips, handle covers, protective sleeves, and cases that absorb impact.

Straps and flexible hinges

Living hinges, straps, and flexible connectors that bend thousands of times without failing.

Specifications

Material properties

Values below are from the manufacturer's technical data sheet for the TPU we print with (Bambu Lab TPU for AMS), tested to the ISO standards listed.

Physical

PropertyMethodValue

Shore hardness68D (firm flexible)
Melting temperatureDSC, 10 °C/min183 °C
Water absorption (saturated)25 °C, 55% RH1.20%

Mechanical

Tensile strengthISO 52722.4 ± 0.6 MPa
Young's modulusISO 5271190 MPa
Elongation at breakISO 527> 650%
Impact strength (Charpy)ISO 179124.3 kJ/m²

Mechanical values are measured in the X–Y print plane; tensile strength across layer lines is approximately 11 MPa in Z, so we orient flexible parts carefully around their load direction. TPU resists most oils and greases and is highly abrasion-resistant, but absorbs more moisture than our rigid materials.

Common questions

TPU printing FAQ

How flexible are TPU parts?

The TPU we stock is Shore 68D, which is firm flexible: it bends and rebounds like a stiff rubber sole rather than a soft squishy gasket. It is the right choice for parts that need to keep their shape while still flexing.

Will TPU parts tear or wear out?

TPU is highly abrasion-resistant and stretches more than 650 percent before breaking, so in impact and wear roles it outlasts rigid plastics by a wide margin.

Can you print very soft, squishy parts?

Our stocked TPU is firm flexible. Softer grades are a specialty order: describe the job on the quote form and we will advise whether a softer material is available and suitable.

How much does a TPU print cost?

Pricing depends on size, quantity, and complexity. Upload a file or describe the part and you will receive a print and shipping price within one business day, with no obligation.
